The 127 meter long passenger vessel VIKTORIA collided with the 100 meter long self-propelled barge BAVARIA 52 on the Danube River near Bratislava, Slovakia (12/4/2011). The VIKTORIA with 160 passengers on board struck the BAVARIA 52 amidship. The BAVARIA 52 suffered significant damage but not enough to have the Bavaria 52 to break-in-two The BAVARIA 52 was lightered 1.5 tons of fuel and was stabilized. The VIKTORIA suffered significant damage to it’s bow which prevented the VIKTORIA to continue on. The passengers were safely evacuated and will continue the cruise on another vessel. None of the 5 crew of the BAVARIA 52 were injured.
